Jasmine “J-Su” Seward is a filmmaker, writer, editor, and director committed to telling bold, original stories that explore identity, ritual, and transformation. Through BOSS Certified Productions, she creates work that blends intimacy with cinematic style, highlighting underrepresented voices and culturally specific narratives.

Her love for the arts began as a child, spending countless hours watching VHS tapes, DVDs, and television broadcasts that ignited her imagination and inspired her curiosity about how stories are made. She developed a deep love for movies after watching Grease starring John Travolta and Spike Lee’s School Daze. Through performing-arts programs throughout grade school, she nurtured her passion for expression and storytelling, continuing to hone her craft on stage and carrying that discipline into the stories she tells today. That passion led her to pursue studies at Alabama State University, where she majored in Communications with a focus on Radio/TV. Immersed in campus productions, hosting sorority events, and collaborating with the BET College Tour, she developed a sharp sense of how to engage audiences. These skills seamlessly carried over into her work behind the camera as a filmmaker.

Her professional journey extends across film and media. She served as the behind-the-scenes videographer for The Greatest Inheritance (2022), featuring Mena Suvari and Jaleel White. She has also contributed as a first assistant on independent film sets in Columbus, GA, and appeared on national productions as an extra, including Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and The Big Fat Wedding Walk.

She has also directed, edited, and served as the director of photography for music videos and promotional videos for local artists, businesses, and brands, further expanding her creative work in visual storytelling.

Her directorial debut was the short silent film Okay, That’s It, which she shot with her children, blending family and artistry in her earliest work.

Beyond film sets, J-Su has established herself as a voice in community media. She has conducted interviews for GumpTown Magazine in Montgomery, AL, and created interview-based video features and promotional materials for Gwen’s Business Corner Media, spotlighting influencers, artists, and celebrities such as Claire Sulmers, Editor-in-Chief and Founder of Fashion Bomb Daily, and launched her own interview series, Headliner Talk, where she has interviewed prominent community figures, highlighted major cultural events in the community, and spotlighted the stories of former HBCU marching band members.

Her latest short film, The Silent Crown, realizes this vision in full: a haunting psychological drama steeped in atmosphere, probing the fragile line between duality, control, and the high cost of transformation.
